A little bit about me

Hi! I'm Keira Thornton. I am 18 years old and I graduated this year. I have experience in helping families take care of their kids. Growing up I took care of my younger cousins, and fully raised my nephew Jax. I taught him how to walk, run and talk. I am an extremely patient and empathetic person when it comes to children and animals. I have been in many clubs growing up taking care of kids who are disabled. I am willing to help clean the house and clean up after pets of any kind. I am more of an afternoon person ( 2-8 pm ) for an example. I currently do not work any jobs at the minute, but I use to work in retail for a few months. I do not have a drivers license, but I do have family who can take me to point A to point B.

I have done volunteer work for disabled children in high school. I have helped raise my nephew Jax along with baby sit cousins.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love arts and crafts! I don't mind playing with toys/dolls with them, I have a very creative imagination. Watching kids movies, dancing to music. Honestly anything that he or she is interested in :)

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is patience and empathy. Children can be a headcase sometimes, and most people cannot tolerate melt downs or bad behavior. The biggest thing about being nanny is being able to see yourself in the childs shoes, to understand why they are upset and find ways to calm them down and talk them through everything calmly.

My experience with special needs children...

In highschool and younger years, I attended clubs for children who have Autism, ADHD, Depression and more. I am extremely patient and caring with children and animals.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the sweetest memories was when my nephew Jax drew me pictures of me and our family. Jax has autism, after one of his melt downs I had calmed him down and talked with him about how he was feeling, and what had sparked him to have one of his melt downs. After our talk I put on one of his favorite shows and laid down with him till he fell asleep. Jax is a wonderful kid.
