More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Throughout my teen years I babysat regularly providing childcare services to my neighbor who was a nurse working overnight shifts. I would assist with light cleaning, meal preparation, bed time routines, and morning routines preparing for the school day.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I promote outdoor activities to assist in the development of motor skills and exercise along with identifying things in nature and the surroundings. Outdoor activities include bicycling, walking, going to the park, bird watching, sports activities, planting a small garden, visiting the zoo, swimming, going to the beach, etc. I promote regular reading activities for speech and language development starting with infants. Reading also assists with the ability to recognize and identify objects, animals, etc. I encourage children to read to me so they are able to learn how to be comfortable reading in front of an audience, further develop their language skills and obtain assistance with pronunciation and vocabulary. I promote arts, crafts and music to be able to explore one's creative side and assist with the development of fine motor skills.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It takes a village to raise a child and if I can be a part of that village in helping your child reach their fullest potential with any kind of contribution or moment in their life, I would love the opportunity.
My experience with special needs children...
As a single mother, I raised a special needs son who is now 21 years old, just graduated with his associates degree as a high honors student with a 4.0 gpa. Through hard work and consistency as a parent along with taking the time to obtain resources for services needed for various delays, my son was able to reach his fullest potential as an adult. In fact, professionals today do not believe he is on the spectrum because he has overcome the delays and is extremely high functioning. He will continue on with his education and pursue his degree in Mechanical engineering. We all have weaknesses and we can choose to use them as a crutch or overcome them to reach our fullest potential.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The sweetest moment I remember is when an adolescent made me a keepsake box asking I keep it to always remember her because she felt I had a great impact on her life providing her with hope and encouragement to have a reason to live after all the trauma abuse she had gone through.
A moment of pride is when my son thanked me for providing him with the support to help him achieve high honors with his academics and making academics extremely important by building great study habits from the very beginning of his school years.
