More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have a 8 year old niece who is special needs. A 5 year old and 15 month old nephew. I take more care of my 15 month old considering he lives with me. Along with me being an intern at an elementary school for 5-6 months. I worked with kindergarden students.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When I interned I created a lot of learning experiences to do with the children. That being activies to target goals like colors, shapes, sounds, reading, math, etc. I'm creative in a way where I am able to make up an activity that benefits for their learning. I also like going to the park.
My experience with special needs children...
My 8 year old niece is special needs, so I have to reword my sentences in order for her to either listen or understand better, sometimes even over explaining if that is how she will understand. When I interned I mostly worked with one special needs child who has cerebral palsy and from one of their seizures caused their side to be partially paralyzed. They could still walk, but it was more of a limp as well as moving their arm, but is slightly restricted to opening and closing, such as grabbing items with their hand. So for my activities I would have them try write words like their name, place objects in certain things, etc. They were also mute, so trying to reach these goals all while rewording/showing what to do was also a challange, but I did it.
