A little bit about me

My name is Ms. Kennedy, but Kenn or Kennedy is just fine. I was born and raised in Memphis, and I am currently a 5-year Pre-K teacher looking to step out of the classroom and step into a role to provide a bit more personal care for your little ones. I've been working with children since before I could be certified--way back when I was about 12 or 13. At 15 I became a junior counselor at a summer camp, and by 18 I was a CIT (counselor in training) coordinator. I’ve been on several childcare teams at centers such as La Petite, KinderCare, and Global Children Services specializing in many ages ranging from 6 weeks to 14 years old. I am a dog mom of one 11 year old pup, and I love being outdoors. I like to sing and read in my free time, and I am very family oriented. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going to the park. I'm very active so I try to play games that incorporate a lot of moving, which is why I prefer the outdoors.
Coloring/painting and Music are very big for me. I love to dance and sing with children, and I like to get their creative juices flowing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is being there for the child when they literally have no one else to turn to. Being a nanny is like being the older brother/sister a child has always wanted--not too bossy, but wise enough to shed some beneficial light to their lives. Being a nanny is about assuring a child that they are always safe and they will always have someone to take care of them.

My experience with special needs children...

My uncle is on the Autism spectrum and we are 4 years apart. I am one of two of his sole care givers, ensuring he gets his daily exercise, meals, and social interaction.
I also worked at Camp Able--a summer camp designed specifically for special needs children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment would have to be watching a family grow from having an infant to a second grader. I had worked with that family during their pregnancy, all the way up until they moved to a different state when the child was 7. It was a full circle moment for me, and it has been one of the many reasons I continue to provide child care today.
