My experience with special needs children...
My little brother has autism and I help him with his episodes. I teach him how we don't hit nor take our anger out on others or ourselves. I teach gentle hands which is where we clasp our hands together and take deep breaths while counting. I also teach him to take deep breaths and I put headphones on his ears to help him when overstimulated. When he had bad episodes I take him outside and we sit in the grass and look around. I do the 5 4 3 2 1 mechanism with him.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment is when I can make a child laugh and smile. I love seeing their face light up with joy.
