More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am presently working as a Preschool teacher. I've worked for Aurora Public Schools for over 7 years. I've been working with children for over 35 years in both school and daycare settings. I have owned my own daycare and also did some nanny work in my early youth.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love playing games of all kinds. I love arts n crafts, painting and emotional regulation games the most. I love taking walks, going to the park, riding bikes, playing sports, jigsaw puzzles and more. I have a plethora of creativity that will never leave us bored. I also believe in teaching through ordinary play.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building relationship with the children and families. Which builds and fosters trust with each other. Supporting the family however needed to help reduce stress. Most of All Love and Safety. although impossible but loving your child as if they were my own. Caring for their needs and safety in all areas, physically, socially and emotionally.

My experience with special needs children...

I am well versed with children and their special needs. I've worked with children with special needs for over 35 years. I now have two grandchildren who are diagnosed being on the autism spectrum. My own children having ADHD, ADD and OCD with underlying anxiety and depression tendencies. My motto is we all belong. The other rule of thumb I go by is we are people first with special powers are what I call them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My nanny experience has been a while. However, I do have a standout super sweet story from one of a very active kindergartner that I worked Daily with. I was writing a poem for a his teacher during the very hard COVID transition back to schools. I asked each child what they learned. One student said, 'I learned about double E" someone else said "sight words". When I asked this student what he learned, he said "I learned that I am Loved and Not a bad boy". I tell you my heart melted. I am proud and humbled to say I had a small role in his thinking. And I'm glad we met.
