More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My background with children & adolescents includes mentoring, outdoor education, & developmentally informed training. In high school, I worked as a Pack Leader, where I helped mentor 8th-grade students during their transition into 9th grade. I worked as an Outdoor School counselor for several years, supporting students in an outdoor learning environment while encouraging curiosity, confidence, responsibility, & safety.
I'm currently a graduate student in Applied Clinical Psychology with a interest in child & adolescent development, emotional well-being, & supportive family systems. My education has strengthened my understanding of development, emotional regulation, trauma-informed care, & the importance of meeting children with patience, warmth, & curiosity.
I hold a current CPR/Basic Life Support certification valid for two years. Combined with my 10+ years of high-volume hospitality experience, I bring strong adaptability, safety awareness, & ability to remain calm under pressure.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny to me is creating a safe, nurturing, and emotionally supportive environment where a child feels truly seen and cared for. I believe children thrive when they have consistent adults who are patient, attentive, and willing to understand their needs with curiosity and warmth.
For me, nannying is not only about supervision or completing daily routines, but about building trust, encouraging confidence, and supporting a child’s development in small everyday moments. Whether that means helping with meals, play, transitions, emotional regulation, or simply being a calm presence, I want the child and family to feel that I am reliable, thoughtful, and fully present.

The most important part about being a nanny...
One moment that has always stayed with me happened while I was working at Disney World as a cast member. A little girl had accidentally ripped her pants, and I could tell she and her mom felt stressed and embarrassed. I asked my manager if I could create a “magical moment,” which allowed Disney to cover an item for a guest, and I was able to help the little girl get a beautiful dress to wear instead.
Later, she and her mom came back and thanked me with a handwritten note, which I still have to this day. That moment reminded me how meaningful small acts of care can be for a child and family, and it reflects the kind of warmth, attentiveness, and thoughtfulness I hope to bring into a nanny role.

Live-In Part-Time Nanny Available in Sherwood, OR: Joey D.
With over 15 years of experience working with kids, I'm like a pro at this! I've taught Sunday School, helped with homework, and watched kids in various settings. My superpower is making kids feel happy and confident. I'm like a big kid myself and know how to have fun and make learning fun too. I'm currently volunteering with the Children's Ministry at Athey Creek (ages 5-7) and they love me!
I have a college degree and I'm kind, dependable, punctual, patient, and exceptionally good with kids.
But that's not all, I'm also a geocaching ninja and could take your child(ren) on some awesome geocaching adventures (if they're up for it)!
In short, I'm the perfect candidate for any kid-related job. I have the experience, the skills and most importantly, I know how to have fun!
