I was involved in a program called Toybox in high school. This was a preschool program for the teacher’s children where we students would assist in teaching the children, creating activities, and helping around the classroom.

I love to do themed arts and crafts! Whether it be based around a current holiday or time of year, or doing something like creating fun picture frames for mom(s) and dad(s). I also love to do things like go on walks, play tag or hide and seek, swim, anything out doors! Of course with sunscreen!

In the toybox program, there was a very sweet young lady named Charlotte who was very shy and usually kept to herself especially around teachers. One day I saw Charlotte looking at a book by herself while everyone else was occupied during play time. I asked her if she’d like me to help her read the book and the smile that appeared on her face when I offered that and her genuine excitement was a huge reason I decided I wanted to continue in childcare.
