Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I volunteered back in my home town at a horse ranch called one step closer. One Step Closer is a therapeutic horse riding ranch that allows children, teens and young adults who have special needs to have an opportunity to learn how to ride a horse. It was truly a rewarding experience working with each and every child during my experience at One Step Closer. Another organization I volunteered at back in my hometown was called the Rebekah house. The Rebekah house is a home for children who are in the foster care system. I got to interact, play, and read with them. Most of the children were not fluent in English, so I got a chance to also somewhat learn a new language as well. (Spanish)
My experience with special needs children...
I personally don't have much experience with special needs children but I would be more than happy to learn and take care of a child who does.
