The most important part of being a nanny is creating quality memories with children that are both entertaining and educational.
My experience with special needs children...
In highschool I participated in creating the Life Skills section for our yearbook. This entailed interviewing and spending several weeks working with students with special needs. During this time I learned a lot about the importance of life skills, including interpersonal skills, problem solving, and critical thinking.
Additionally, I have a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis. This educational background has strengthened my knowledge when it comes to working with individuals with autism.
Finally, I currently work as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), where I work with adults with special needs. While this differs from working with children with special needs, my goal is still the same: to empower and strengthen the quality of lives for the individuals I work with.
