I am the 2nd oldest to about 8 children. So, babysitting comes kind of natural to me. However, I have volunteered at many elementary and middle school events where I learned how to act with many different, of all races and ages.

Children are all different in their own ways. If i had to do indoor activities, I would migrate to art or music. Outdoor activities would be mainly of the kids choosing, but I would stick to active ideas, like tag, or catch.

The most important part about being a babysitter is ensuring the safety and comfort of both the child and the child's parent. It is highly important that the parent feel safe and comfortable with leaving their children around me or with me.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for children with autism. One could talk and be alert, while the other chose to stay to himself and was mostly quiet. While dealing with them was not easy, i quickly learned to adapt to the things they liked and appreciated, while not pushing them to be anything or any one other than themselves.
