I have hands-on experience caring for and working with autistic children, including nannying an autistic toddler and working as a behavior technician with children who have a variety of behavioral and developmental needs. This experience has taught me to be patient, adaptable, and understanding while creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for each child.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments as a nanny was helping the autistic toddler I cared for learn new skills. We worked on learning his ABCs through sign language, as well as practicing handwriting, and it was so rewarding to see his confidence grow as he became more comfortable with each skill. Seeing his progress and excitement when he learned something new was really special to me.
