I have played ice hockey for the majority of my life, which gives me the ability to take children skating and help them learn or even just help them glide. Overall, I enjoy learning what the children like to do and helping them to explore more about themselves and what they enjoy! Whether that be crafting, adventuring, or watching a movie together.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Communication and trust between a nanny and parents is crucial. If I’m going to be spending significant amounts of time with your child, they will ask me questions, they will push mine and your boundaries, and they will likely often be on your mind. I want to be able to ease that worry, so that when you are able to think about your children during the day, it is only to look forward to seeing them later, not to worry about them. I believe that communication and building trust is the key to this. Being on the same page is important for all parties involved.
My experience with special needs children...
My mother in law is a special education preschool teacher. I have not had a ton of experience with special needs children, but I am more than willing to learn more and use my resources depending on the parents comfort!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the girls who I have helped to take care of since she was born (8 years ago now) has recently gotten to work with women from the Olympic hockey team. I’ve talked hockey with her and taken her skating for years, and it makes me so happy and so proud to be able to continue to watch her grow and enjoy what she is doing!
