I currently student teach American history at a local high school. In high school, I gained 3 years of experience in early childhood education, taking care of infants, preschoolers, and toddlers. I began working in childcare around 10 years ago, and the last family I cared for was in 2022.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoor: arts and crafts, music/dancing, tutoring, board games, playing with toys, and reading books to younger children.
My experience with special needs children...
I do not have direct experience with childcare of children with special needs, but I do have experience creating supports and bonding with high school students who have special needs. I do have several friends with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and one with both ASD and physical disabilities. As a result of these friendships, I have learned how to navigate certain sensitivities, such as overstimulation or outbursts. I am willing to learn more if you and your child are willing to work with me. I am very patient, kind, and have family members of my own with special needs, so I am very willing to work with special needs children.
