More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Aside from private home settings and structured childcare environments, it would be the public school system, where I worked this previous school year as a substitute teacher with Chesterfield County Public Schools. In this role, I support students in maintaining classroom routines, following lesson plans, and staying engaged in learning while ensuring a safe and structured environment. This experience has strengthened my ability to manage groups of children, adapt quickly to different age levels and classroom needs, and provide consistent supervision and support in an educational setting.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing activities with children that support both learning and play in a fun, engaging way. This includes reading books together, sensory play for younger children, arts and crafts, music and movement activities, and outdoor play like walks, parks, and simple games. I also enjoy age-appropriate learning activities such as practicing letters, numbers, colors, and shapes, as well as helping school-age children with homework in a supportive and patient way. Overall, I focus on activities that encourage creativity, development, and confidence while keeping children actively engaged and having fun.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is providing a safe, stable, and emotionally supportive environment where children can thrive. This means maintaining constant awareness of safety, following family routines and expectations, and creating consistency so children feel secure and understood. A strong nanny also supports a child’s development through age-appropriate activities, learning, and guided play, rather than simply supervising them. Equally important is clear and respectful communication with parents, including updates on daily routines, behavior, and progress. Overall, the role is about being dependable, structured, and nurturing while aligning with the family’s values and supporting the child’s physical, emotional, and developmental growth.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience with special needs childcare includes working with children who have autism, cerebral palsy, and a child who was going through cancer treatment. In these roles, I focused on being patient, consistent, and attentive to each child’s individual needs and routines. With autism, I supported structure and communication through repetition and calm guidance. With cerebral palsy, I assisted with daily routines and made sure the child was comfortable, safe, and supported throughout the day. With the child undergoing cancer treatment, I paid close attention to their energy levels and needs, making sure they were comfortable and cared for while still engaging in gentle, age-appropriate activities when possible. These experiences taught me how important it is to be flexible, understanding, and dependable in providing care that fits each child’s situation.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was working with a one-year-old and introducing them to the alphabet in a playful, repetitive way. Through daily interaction, songs, and visual learning, I helped them become familiar with the alphabet both forwards and backwards. It was less about memorization and more about building early recognition, rhythm, and engagement with language. Seeing how quickly they responded and began to anticipate and participate in the activity was a really rewarding reminder of how early learning grows through consistency, repetition, and connection.
