More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered at a public school to help the teacher with entertaining and teaching 2nd grade children. Also assisted with maintaining control in the classroom, watched over kids while at recess, and aided with a quiet march to the lunch room at lunch time. Assisted children with special issues in different learning and problem solving areas.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing games, (without a computer), coloring, reading stories to them. Teaching them to bake and cook, in a controlled setting. Playing outside games, weather permitting, going to the park. Playing baby dolls with them. All sorts of things!

The most important part about being a nanny...

is helping children of all ages to develop to the fullest level of their ability. And to watch them grow and enjoy the learning process.

My experience with special needs children...

I have only a limited time with special needs children. My granddaughter was born 3 months early and had a lot of physical needs. I was able to take care of her for only three months, but would have spent much more time with her if I could have. I am more than willing to learn to care for special needs children, as long as there is no lifting, carrying or transporting them for long distances.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Playing hide-&-go-seek with two of the children I recently took care of. The boy, Sam, was very intelligent, and had found a really good place to hide. I found Sally quickly, but Sam was no where to be found. So we searched and found no Sam!!
A few hours later, while I was fixing dinner for the kids, Sam came running down the hall yelling "Ha ha! I fooled you! I fooled everybody!" The whole family was worried sick by his absence. I fell to my knees and hugged him so tightly I thought surely he would break! I expressed my worries, maybe a little too harshly, and asked him where he had been. His smile would have melted even the most angry 'Nanny' as he said, "but I was just in the bathtub!! You walked by me a bunch of times!" His little eyes were full of tears and he was trying not to cry.
I pulled him close and told him that I was so happy he was okay as the tears poured down my face too! That was the happiest memory of my total 'Nanny' times.
