A little bit about me

My name is Layla, I'm 23 years old, and I love working with kids. I've babysat on and off since I was 13 for family and friends, I used to be in charge of a babysitting program at my local place of worship where I would look after 10-15 kids of all ages every night, I have my personal experiences taking care of my nieces and nephews as well as other family members. My biggest priority when working with kids is ensuring they feel safe, loved, respected, and happy while I'm with them. I emphasize the word "respect" because I feel like a lot of people don't think that kids deserve the same respect as adults merely because they're young. They are the most innocent among us, they have feelings just like everyone else, and they deserve to have those feelings taken into account. My goal here is to make sure that parents have someone to watch over their child who they know is responsible and give them peace of mind knowing that I will make sure that no harm comes to their child.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some indoor activities would include doing creative things whether it be arts and crafts, reading/writing, singing/dancing, or pretty much anything to keep their brains active and not just focused on a screen all day long. Outdoor activities would include going on walks, going to the park, riding bikes or skating, anything to keep them active, and again, not being focused on a screen all day long.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I pride myself on making sure that the parents have peace of mind knowing that someone responsible is looking after their child. Another important thing I pride myself on is making sure that those kids are happy and safe at all times. I care very deeply for all kids and it's critical that they feel comfortable and protected around the person who is looking after them.

My experience with special needs children...

I haven't looked after children with special needs but in 2014 I was helping my mother take care of my father who was at home on hospice. My responsibilities included feeding him and giving him his medications through a GI tube, taking his blood sugar, and other general round-the-clock care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When I was looking after my youngest cousin I was lucky enough to be the one to teach him how to walk and when he took those first steps, I was over the moon.
