My experience with special needs children...
I would require a lot of communication from the family in order to figure out what the child needs and what expectations/goals the family has for the child. I am also neurodivergent myself (ADHD) so I have quite a good understanding of how neurodivergence works. I have also taken an ECE course that specializes in children with special needs.
