My experience with special needs children...
In high school, I was a teacher’s aide for the special education classroom. I was able to observe and practice appropriate redirection and non-physical discipline such as taking away something that is fun until the behavior was fixed. In my first daycare, I worked a lot with a children who was autistic. Often times, he was non-verbal but would sign out his needs so I took the time to learn ASL so I could better understand and accommodate him.
