More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Right before I started working as a nanny I worked in an at home daycare for a few months. I learned a lot about safety and choking prevention. I was also CPR and first aid certified, which I'm working on renewing.
I also worked in the child center at a gym for about a year.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting the kids out of the house if there's plenty of free-time. Going out for a walk, to the park, splash pads, the zoo, and to the pool! Or there's the kids clubhouse, get air, Haven kids center, etc.
I'm always looking for places to take our toddler so maybe I'll discover even more places! (I've only been here a year so I'm still finding new places)
I'm great with keeping young ones on their nap schedules even when I take them on outings.
When we're home, I love setting up age appropriate activities for them. Painting, finger painting, play doh, sidewalk chalk & other crafts. I find toddlers love stickers too and it's great for their fine motor skills so I'm always stocked up on fun stickers.
I love helping the kids make handprint cards for birthdays, mother's day/Father's day etc. I have a running board on Pinterest where I save my favorite activities.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Taking care of the kids as the parents would (or as close as I can get!) It's great being able to have a nanny care for kids in their own home and having the flexibility to take them out and have fun as well as staying in and thinking of fun things to do with them. Keeping them engaged and keeping up with milestones.
My experience with special needs children...
I have 3 younger siblings who have special needs.
My brother is 5 years younger than me and he has down syndrome. He's non-verbal but understands and has his own way of communicating (the school system didn't keep him on the same communication education so he can verbalize a tiny bit, but mostly communicates via simple sign language)
We adopted my younger sister who is a month younger than my brother. She was born very premature and under developed. She's non-verbal and doesn't communicate very well but is semi self-sufficient.
My youngest brother is 13 years younger than me and he has Asperger's and ADHD. He's very high functioning, he was just a little delayed with taking and was always very active
The reason I'm mentioning my siblings is because I did a lot to help my parents with them growing up, I was considered the second mom. I've always been very maternal and these guys taught me so much patience.
I've also worked with several children who have autism across the spectrum

The most important part about being a nanny...
Always when the babies can say my name for the first time and whenever I can help them learn something new
I've worked with so many families, it's difficult to think of a single moment but one funny moment that I can think of is one time I took the kids (5, 2.5, & 2.5) through the Starbucks drive through for a coffee and some cake pops for the kids and I pull up to the speaker and one of the twins rolls his window down and asks the lady for a cheeseburger 😂
