I've spent my entire adult life caring for children including my own two, whom I homeschooled for their entire childhood (now adults). I was also a homeschool blogger and I wrote for the iHomeschool Network as a contributing author on parenting styles and child development. I have worked with all ages including newborn to adult and special needs children and adults. I form very strong bonds with the children, have been dearly loved by all families I work with, and I'm very flexible patient & nurturing. I choose an emotionally intelligent parenting style; mental health and secure attachment is of utmost importance to me and I choose to work with families who align with this. 🤍

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm very affectionate and very physical. I love to spend time in the water and on hikes when the weather permits. Admittedly, I am not the artsiest but I do enjoy building and creating. Reading is a daily Joy. And in all honesty, something that I've enjoyed with all the children I've cared for has to do with the conversation and deep communication we have. Psychology is my greatest passion and I thoroughly enjoy getting to know each unique brain and personality. Children are a wonder.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is understanding that you are one of the main people in that child's life to shape their self-worth and their self-image. This is no small job or position. And children do not understand the idea that you are an employee. You are one of their primary friends and caregivers and they count on you. It is an honor and a privilege never to be taken for granted.

My experience with special needs children...

I cared part-time for a child with special needs for 5 years. He had a rare syndrome. Very happy boy! I loved him dearly and we had a great bond.
I also care for an adult with Mosaic down syndrome. She has adopted me as a sister. ;) And we will always be in each other's lives. One of the most incredible women I've known.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are way too many favorite nanny moments to put them into one paragraph on here. But there is one memory that stands out - a moment I am especially proud of. When I was working with my first full-time family, they had their third child. The mother gave birth at home, late at night, and when I arrived early the next morning for my shift and walked through the door she was holding her baby girl, very tired from the exciting night, and gently placed her in my arms while I was standing in the entry area. This was a child that was only hours old and she was being placed in my immediate care so that the mother could sleep. So very precious, this moment. A couple weeks later they went on an all-day boating trip and entrusted the care of all three girls, including the newborn, to me. The mother did message me after leaving stating that normally she would never ever leave her child this young, but because it was me and no one else she fully trusted.
