More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I babysat family friends when i was younger. I have a 3 year old brother I had to watch quite often. I went to work with my mom sometimes; she is a teacher at a special needs private school in Texas. I am just used to taking care of kids a lot.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I used to let the little girls I babysat do my hair and makeup or teach them how to do a cartwheel. My little brother used to build pillow forts in our living room with me and my dad. I pretty much will go along with anything the child wants to do, within reason of course.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part of being a nanny or taking care of children in any way is understanding them and respecting them. Age doesn’t define intelligence, experience, or anything. A child can be right and an adult be wrong. That is what kids need, or at least what I needed, so I am determined to respect my kids I nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

First of all, I was a very independent kid even though I have the three big a’s. (High functioning Autism, Anxiety, and ADHD) I taught myself a lot of things and would help others learn too if they were nice to me. I also helped kids in my moms class, but I wasn’t aloud to intervene with behaviors. I did watch the therapist methods of dealing with such behaviors and could manage if ever needed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I haven’t nannied, but I do have a favorite moment I had with the twin girls I babysat in high school. We used to play dress up a lot with my clothes when I babysat at my house. There was one day that they found my science goggles and wanted to dress up as scientists; it was really cool and inspiring to me. I ended up helping them create little lipsticks out of melted chapstick and crayons.
