I've been a preschool teacher, a nanny, a day camp facilitator, a supervisor for court ordered visitation, a tutor, a babysitter and even an nanny for extended periods so parents can travel for anniversaries, work, and more! I am excited to find another family to grow with!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Pretty much everything! I love the baby stage with poopy diapers, wake windows, and tummy time. I love the sassy, wild toddler era with opening doors a million times, cause and effect and nonsense chats. I love the messy, fun activities- I can make 2 types of slime, playdough, chalk paint, snow paint and puffy paint. I love lego, and couch forts, nerf gun wars, and muddy puddles. I've taught several kids how to climb trees. I have been known to help neurodivergent children to finish their homework and be happy about it. I basically love and enjoy all things children! I try to use screens very minimally, but do use them as educational support.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Trust. You're entrusted with this beautiful little person (or persons!) and need to keep them safe, and happy! It goes both ways too! As your nanny I'm trusting you to see my value, worth, and capability! The most important thing after trust is safety! We have to keep each other safe!
My experience with special needs children...
My first teaching job was at an inclusive model preschool, so I literally learned how to teach while teaching kids with special needs. Routine and patience are key! I myself am late diagnosed autistic and ad/hd, this realization has helped me help kids unknowingly for decades!
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my sweet nanny kids loved sitting under the apple trees in her yard and watching the honey bees from her mom's hives, a very hippie soul. One day, at not yet 3 years old, she grabbed my hand and pulled me all the way through her house, to her apple trees, and patted the ground next to her and said "Let the moment happen!" such wise words from a wise soul!! I love witnessing children finding their power, knowledge and self. It's a gift.
