More About Me
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Imagination and creativity are the heart and soul of a child’s world. Even those older kids who claim to say they “learned nothing interesting at school.” Have most definitely learned SOMETHING interesting at school. The next step is getting them to think about what they learned in a fun and engaging way.
- Art projects can be a visual diary of their world and what they see. I find them to also be very therapeutic after long stressful days.
- Swimming and sports can be effective methods of wringing out the tension and loose energy of a hectic day as well.
- Meal time is a great moment to get young ones involved in learning about what foods are excellent for making you run faster, draw better, and stress less throughout the day. While also taking time to learn about meal preparation.
-Last but not least: I have quite the knack for bedtime stories. :)

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is sending your children back into your arms at the end of the day.
My experience with special needs children...
I grew up as the only hearing child in a deaf household, meaning both parents and my brother are deaf. This meant that I could grow up with insight into both the hearing world and the world of disabilities. My primary experience would fall under deaf education and proficiency in ASL. Communicating is always the first most essential part of any relationship and if your child’s needs are not being met because they go unheard then your child has not been receiving the right care. My hope is to improve relationships, not just amongst your child and care-provider (myself) but as well as give any advice on how to help strengthen your bond with your child. I provide a tremendous amount of resources and help that would give your child assistance with communication, education and even funding that education if your child qualifies for scholarships through the Deaf Ministry at LLUMC.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I had to watch some...let’s use the word, adorable... ten year olds one summer at a camp in Maine. One of the days was a field trip outing in which we all went to the beach. Well in Maine the water is quite chilly, 20 degrees and below to be exact, even in the summer. So me and three of the girls in my group all approached the water and upon the count of 3! We ran into the icy waters holding each other’s hands. Well on the count of 1...2....3!!! I lunged forward and all three girls immediately broke my grip and let me fall into the wave without them. As I got back up I saw they had all scattered and I ran after the nearest one and started picking them up one by one. And on the last girl I said “Ok guys...1...2...3!!!!!” and I took all three into the next wave. Afterwards they gave me the nickname Hamilton from the movie Soul Surfer with Bethany Hamilton and the shark. Needless to say those girls had quite the impact on my summer.
