Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a Mandarin instructor at the Horizon Elementary School Summer Program during the summer of 2024. I was also a part-time nanny for a family of 5 kids all under the age of 11.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Two of my favorite things to do with kids are spend time outside and play music! I have a guitar and I would love to bring my guitar and play music. I can also help with instrument practice or music theory instruction. I have extensive training in piano and guitar performance and I also got a perfect score on my AP Music Theory test in high school. I am open to seriously any activity from playing dodgeball to doing crafts! I played sports in high school such as tennis, rock climbing, and dance, and I also love painting and bedazzling things. I have a bedazzling kit and seriously love all kinds of crafting!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is learning to connect with the children you are taking care of in order to prioritize their physical and mental health needs. Over the years, I've learned that it is important for me to know how to decipher what a child needs based on more than just their words. I also know that it is important to ensure that the child feels seen and heard. My favorite thing as a nanny is when I get a text from the parents that says something along the lines of "My kid is asking when you are coming over for a playdate again!" As a nanny, I strive to simultaneously ensure that the children I am caring for are safe and healthy while also having an amazing time. While I am nannying, I turn my phone on Do Not Disturb and change the settings on my phone so that only calls and messages from the parents ring through.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience with Treacher Collins Syndrome and Down Syndrome. I have experience with G-tube feedings, prescribed injections, and other types of medication and treatments.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was having dance parties in the car with my previous nanny family! We made a playlist and every time I drove them somewhere, we would listen to their favorite songs. Music has had such a big influence on me personally and I want to share that light with the kids that I nanny!
