A little bit about me

I am entering my second year of college pursuing a Business degree I have always loved working with children. Through the Wise Mentoring Program, I helped elementary school students with academics and classroom activities while also mentoring incoming freshman by supporting them socially and academically. I was also a junior volleyball coach for 2 years, teaching young athletes teamwork and confidence. In addition, I have extensive babysitting experience caring for my nieces, nephews, younger cousins, and the children of family friends. I am comfortable preparing meals, helping with homework, keeping a clean and organized home, creating fun activities, and maintaining daily routines while always prioritizing safety. As captain of my college cheer team, I’ve strengthened my leadership, responsibility, and communication skills. I am patient, dependable, energetic, and genuinely enjoy creating a safe, caring, and positive environment where children can learn, have fun, and feel supported.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a teacher’s assistant, I was a mentor for freshman incoming students, I was the coach for a junior volleyball team, I am currently the captain of my college cheer team, and I’ve baby sat for friends and family countless times.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Taking them to fun places like museums, parks, going on walks, crafting, choreographing dances, sports, playing dress up, watching movies, playing video games, reading, writing cooking, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me the most important part about being a nanny is being patient and open minded because not every kid is the same. Some children might learn differently or understand things in a different way, and we as the older generation who have had to go through that as well should know the struggle of not being able to be understood or people not having the patience to go at your speed so we must break that cycle.

The most important part about being a nanny...

On my last day, being an assistant teacher, all the children wrote letters to me and notes and brought gifts and thanked me for everything. I’ve helped them with throughout the school year and I’ve kept all of those letters and always think back to when I was teaching their class, it’s just such a bitter sweet moment and it really puts into perspective how much one person can really influence so many great minds to come!

We’re also around younger kids a lot because we have younger siblings, so we’re used to helping out and keeping them entertained. We’re responsible, patient, caring, and will always make sure your kids are safe while having fun. We’d love the chance to help out your family this summer!

Ava A. - Seeking Work in New York

Babysitter Available in New York, NY: Ava A.

NYC-based caregiver and certified Red Cross lifeguard with real childcare experience, not just credentials on paper. Most recently worked as a private nanny in Manhattan, handling bedtime routines, meals for specific dietary needs, and full-day supervision during play. Previously worked with families through 92NY, planning age-appropriate activities and building trust with parents through honest, detailed daily updates.
My lifeguard background matters more than people expect: trained in CPR, First Aid, and water rescue, and used to watching a space actively, catching problems before they happen. I've enforced safety rules consistently in high-traffic settings, so I set boundaries calmly and don't cave under pushback.
Former competitive rugby player who trains seriously in strength and fitness, so I keep up with high-energy kids without flagging. I read constantly and write poetry, which makes me an engaged presence, not just a supervising one.
