More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I've been caring for kids for in my family since a young teen, and I’m the go-to date night sitter. I was a nanny for my first family of 2 autistic boys (3 & 9) for about 8 months, then moved to another family with a lovely boy (4) and girl (5). Then I was a lead teacher for the one’s room at a daycare for about 13 months, until I decided to go back into nannying. I was in private nannying for the last 2 years along with having a lead teacher position at the Goddard School in Overland Park, KS.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love everything they love, I'm very open and creative when it comes to different types of fun and stimulation, I love going outside to parks, or just on walks, to the pool to a beach or the lake. I also love inside activities, coloring, drawing, reading, games, movies, I'm open to pretty much everything depending on the children’s wants/needs!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Knowing the balance of care and comfort. Being able to “gentle parent” without being a child’s parent can be tough but children are so intelligent and pick up on behaviors instantly. With my current family, it’s become very apparent that if I live in the world as a kind, respectful, loving human, then the children I help care for will learn those behaviors and follow in those footsteps.
Communication with parents about every detail of the child’s development is also extremely important when it comes to their learning style. Children thrive off of routine and it’s not helpful if I’m trying to teach an entirely different schedule than the parents!

My experience with special needs children...
My first nanny experience, the oldest had diagnosed autism and attended therapy twice a week which I provided transportation for. The youngest showed many signs of autism and I provided learning stimulation with both every day. I am very patient, especially with tics or other uncontrollable behavior, it doesn't bother me at all, and we always worked through disagreements and anxiety troubles.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Definitely the clicks of lightbulbs going off when they understand something we were learning. I had a boy I was potty training, and we were struggling quite a bit with knowing when he needed to go potty. One day he just sat up, looked at me, and said “I think I need to go sit on the potty” It was magical. 😇💜
