Communication with not only the parents but with the kids as well! You have to keep in mind that kids learn everyday and they love it! Answer their questions, tell them what you're doing and why. It helps build your bond and gain trust!

I live with my cousin who has Autism, so I have lifelong experience with children who have special needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments while being a nanny was when I went grocery shopping with one of my kids and happened to grab a pack of my favorite gum and mentioned to them that it was my favorite gum. A couple months later around Christmas time my kid said they had a present for me and asked my to close my eyes and hold out my hand. When I opened my eyes he had placed a pack of my favorite gum in my hand and told me that he got it for me because he knew it was my favorite. I will forever cherish that memory because it reminds me that although our time together was short I was as big of a part of his life as he was mine.
