Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at a daycare for about a year, and volunteered at a daycare when I was unable to get the time to work. I also babysit for multiple families.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Swimming, crafting, taking them to parks, making games with their toys, baking, bowling or indoor rock climbing if they are old enough, and keeping them active outside when the weather allows!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the kids feel comfortable and safe with me. I want them to have a good time and learn when I am around. I want them to be well taken care of with myself and their parents!
My experience with special needs children...
I have a cousin with autism and is nonverbal. I know the basics of ASL and willing to learn more! Also willing to learn anything about all special needs children!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My old nanny family taught their kiddos to say Miss Mackenzie. The little one at the time couldn't pronounce my name so it ended up being Miss Bekinze, I didn't mind and as much as I helped her with the alphabet, there was always the thought in the back of my mind that hoped she would always say my name like that. Fast forward 2 years and they had another baby and he heard his sister saying my name like that so that's what he started calling me. One day we were sitting there reading books and she finally grasped how to say my name correctly. My heart was so excited that I was able to be a part of that but it stung too! The little guy still calls me Miss Bekinze but the little girl has grown out of it. I'm so proud of her and yet so sad to see it go!
