A little bit about me

My name is Mackenzie Thrush, and I am 21 years old. I am currently back in school for teaching and work at an elementary school with children who have exceptionalities. I work from 8:00–4:20 every weekday, so my schedule has changed a little, but I would love to help anytime after work or on weekends!

I worked as a lifeguard for two years and also taught swim lessons. I have worked at three different daycares as a latchkey teacher, summer program leader, and full-time daycare teacher. I have experience working with children from 2 months to 10 years old and have also babysat and nannied for several years.

I am CPR, First Aid, AED, and WSI certified. I have always loved working with kids, and I am continuing my education to become an elementary school teacher!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I I worked as a lifeguard at Rock River Rapids for two years, where I also taught swim lessons. I worked at my school’s latchkey program during the school year for two years, at the DRC summer program for one summer, and at Angel Wings Learning Center for a year. I have also been babysitting since I was about 10 years old and have nannied before. I have lots of experience working with children of different ages and in many different settings. I currently work at an elementary school with children who have exceptionalities, which has given me even more experience working with children with different needs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love, love, love doing art projects with kids! At the last daycare I worked at, I was always coming up with different art projects and activities that I knew the kids would actually enjoy doing. I also love going on walks, going to the park, playing with chalk, being outside, and coming up with different activities and games.

Growing up, some of my favorite memories were made outside, doing crafts, playing games, and using my imagination. I feel like with technology being such a big part of life now, kids don’t always get as many opportunities to just play, create, explore, and use their imaginations. I would love to give your little ones those kinds of experiences while making new and wonderful memories of their own. I love finding activities that let kids have fun, be creative, and let their big little imaginations grow!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most Important part about being a nanny is your Childs safety. I believe a nanny should be dependable, hard working, patient, loving, and should always be a positive role model to the younger ones. I am here to fulfill your Childs needs so you can focus on your responsibilities. it is rewarding to see them learn and grow under my care.

My experience with special needs children...

I currently work at an elementary school in a Life Skills classroom with children who have different exceptionalities and support needs. I work with students from Pre-K through 6th grade and help them throughout their school day with learning, communication, daily routines, and participating in different activities. Some of the children I work with are nonverbal and need more one-on-one support. Working in this classroom has given me a lot of hands-on experience, and I really enjoy getting to know each child and finding what works best for them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment Is when the kids are super excited to see me in the mornings. It is always so nice to know that I can impact a child so much that they love to be around me and are excited to see me. I would love to create a trusting, loving, and fun environment for your little ones.
