A little bit about me

Hi there! My name is Maddy, I’m 25 years old and I have been a Lead Infant/Toddler teacher at St. Paul’s Treehouse for almost 6 years now. I have been caring for infants and young children ever since I was young, it has always been something that seems to come naturally to me. I’ve always had a passion and love for care taking, and I have been very interested in working for new families. I do prefer one infant to ensure that I am able to fulfill all of their needs in a timely manner, but I am open to more than one infant. A little bit more about me is that I love training and spending time with my dog, Macy. We love to go on long walks, and when she’s finally sleepy from her daily antics, she likes to join me in binge watching tv shows or finding an intriguing documentary. I plan on beginning and furthering my eduction in the pediatric medical field, and I believe this is an amazing way to spend my time while doing so. I love all things self care, personal growth and community.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have always loved being a caretaker, ever since I was about 10 years old! I would always babysit the neighbor friends, as well as my younger cousins and nieces and nephews. It’s always something that has filled me with purpose and brought me so much joy. In 2019, when I was in high school, I was apart of an early childhood class, and we got to help with the preschoolers, which was such a fun experience. After that, I worked in a few daycare facilities, but those weren’t the right fit for me. Finally in 2021, I found the perfect position as a Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher, and it’s been absolutely amazing! I care for ages 6 weeks-2 years old, and it has been nothing but a blessing. I am also CPR Certified for Infants and Adults.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Anything that is age appropriate in order to help the child reach their developmental milestones, while prioritizing the child having fun. Tummy time, sensory play, reading, and singing are all ways I love to bond with baby! I love being out in nature, that could be going on walks for a scavenger hunt, or to the playground if they are old enough! Music is always so fun too, and bubbles! I love getting to know the child as they grow and exploring all of their interests.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being kind, attentive, and patient. Not every day will be easy, but every day, that child needs you to show up as your best self. It’s not you against the kid, it’s you two against the world! That child is learning everyday, and doing their absolute best, so it is our job to make sure they know just how loved they are, because it’s not easy being a kid!

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have previous experience with special needs children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my favorite moments in my classroom are when you have been working on building a loving, trusting relationship with a new child, and the day comes that you can tell they recognize you as one of their caregivers. They trust you and they know they can rely on you to respond to their needs. It’s very special and heartwarming.
