Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love any kind of game- especially those that present as mentally or physically challenging. Board games, video games, outdoor games, imagination games, etc. are all wonderful tools for having fun when used correctly! I also personally enjoy reading and crocheting which can easily be done with children in the forms of age appropriate books and crafts!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is that parents feel their children aren’t solely being “watched” but are also being nurtured and encouraged to grow. Any person in a child's life helps with the development of that child and that is the greatest responsibility anyone can have!
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for multiple children with autism as well as a child that presented with both autism and down syndrome. I believe all children are gifts and their differences should be celebrated and accommodated.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment happened when I was working with a little girl in Spain who was having a difficult time remembering lesson details. We came up with a craft that allowed her to make “puns” on images that she colored which pertained to the lesson. It ended up lightening the mood when she would get frustrated and also allowed for imagery to play a part in her lesson which helped her long term.
