More About Me
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Montessori methods, in my opinion, can be the perfect way to play with children. I enjoy being able to watch kids find their own interests and skills in a way where creativity flourishes. On that track, I also love nature based activities, such as making potions outside, ispy (or other such games) walks, and even something as simply as building sandcastles! My favorite indoor activities range from doing art of any medium, making music, and playing pretend in ways the child initiates!
My experience with special needs children...
I myself am neurodivergent, having OCD, a mild tic disorder, and am in testing phases for other conditions. I’m not the only child in my family with such conditions, as it runs in my family. I have two younger twin brothers who were both diagnosed with autism at a young age, with very different symptoms and needs. Growing up, I took a big role in watching my brothers when we were growing up, as well as assisting them with school work and driving them to school, jobs, and our mother’s house! My experience is very different from my brothers, so I have experience with many different types of care needed, as well as some struggle areas. Because of this, I’m cognizant of sensory needs and can efficiently adjust plans and such depending on said need (ex. Choosing an indoor activity if the weather is comfortable, being mindful of comfortable outfits, primarily playing one type of music).
The most important part about being a nanny...
While I have not had specifically a nanny position yet, one of my favorite moments with the kids at my center is really just the connecting. It’s a gift being able to watch children learn new skills, socialize, and play. I feel the most fulfillment seeing them proud and happy with themselves, whether that be feeling confident in a costume, using a spoon properly, or solve conflicts. It’s fascinating the way children function and behave, and seeing them grow every day makes the job feel both empowering and rewarding. Outside of that empowerment feelings, I love the healing nature of the job. Yes, I want to play Barbie’s, and yes, I want to build a huge blanket fort! Those sweet moments are what makes me love working with kids, because they become core memories for us as well!
