A little bit about me

My name is Maggie Bass, I am 19 years old, I have over 6 years of childcare experience with all ages, abilities, needs. I’ve worked with speech delays, childhood asthma, as well as deaf children. I prefer working with children under the age of 24 months, but love all ages. I believe the best way to work with children is through patience, trust, consistency, and understanding. I have a passion for teaching children ASL (American Sign Language). I see my role as a loving and nurturing guide who supports children’s natural desire to explore, discover, and grow at their own pace. I enjoy trips to the park, the library, as well as local kids events. I love teaching through cooking, hands on play, consistency and demonstration. In my free time I’m always with my 1 year old Bernedoodle, Verona. We go everywhere together, from coffee runs and walks to road trips and hikes! I absolutely love cooking, im always in the kitchen.

I worked with two deaf children in a mainstream kindergarten classroom. I supported them and helped aid them in their day to day activities, ensuring they never felt out of place. I was also responsible for expanding their language and communication skills in both english and ASL (American Sign Language).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love spending time outdoors with children, from parks to local activities and pool time in the summer! I try to spend as much time as possible outside with children, as I see a very distinct difference in their mood and behavior (as well as mine!) I also enjoy rainy days full of books, toys, and snuggles! I strongly believe in limiting screen time as much as possible, for many families i’ve helped cut screen time down to under 30 mins a week.

I have experience with special needs through my Deaf/Hard of Hearing Paraprofessional position in a mainstream kindergarden classroom. I also have experience with children with autism and other developmental/social delays!
