A little bit about me

I am an experienced caregiver with an immense love for children. I have a bachelors degree in speech-language pathology and neuroscience, as well as a masters degree in human biology, and hope to pursue a research career in neurodevelopment. I have volunteered, worked, and lived with kids throughout my life, and started babysitting at 12 years old. I have worked in a daycare center servicing infants to preschoolers, as well as an elementary school in the first and third grades. I volunteered most of my time throughout high school and my college summers in an elementary classroom with kids on the autism spectrum, which serviced ages 5 through 12 in their program. I am a caring individual and have been told my entire life that I'm a magnet for children, and it has given me some of my greatest joys to work with them as much as I have.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing creative things with children, like painting, arts and crafts, and drawing. I love going outside and teaching children about plants and animals in their environment, and being an avid gardener myself, I love teaching them about how plants grow. Going to the local park or zoo is always a fun summertime activity, and movie times and cuddles is great for rainy days! Another thing that I emphasize a lot with children is early literacy skills, and I have a collection of children’s books that I often bring to read with the kids, as well as having access to the many libraries in the area.

My experience with special needs children...

I have volunteered with students with autism, volunteered with the special needs program at my high school , as well as taking many courses in my undergraduate degree on childhood psychology, speech and language disorders, and autism. I have work as a personal aide for a toddler with autism, as well as working closely with my current centers special needs director to come up with strategies and solutions for the many needs that special needs children may face.
