More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My first ever job was as a lifeguard at 15, and shortly after I jumped at the opportunity to teach swim lessons to children at my pool’s community summer camp. I taught swim lessons all through high school and into my college years, both group and private, specializing in ages 6 and under. I had a special interest in working with children with past trauma around water/ fear of water, children with neurodivergence, sensory issues, and development disorders.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love learning about children. I love talking to them (no matter the age, 6 weeks- 13years) and especially love asking questions. It is important to expose kids to as many activities and positive experiences as possible for them to discover more about themselves and what they love.
I personally have my likes and dislikes, but seeing a child spark for the first time they realize they love art, or love reading, love nature, or dinosaurs, it doesn't matter what it is, if they love it, I will ALWAYS love what they love, no matter my personal taste. I will always try new things and push myself to learn new skills, anything if that is what makes the child glow.

My experience with special needs children...
In Spring 2024, I began working as a substitute teacher at the early childhood center in the same community center I was working at as a swim instructor.
That summer, I started working as a life enrichment day camp counselor in one of the early childhood classrooms. I worked one-on-one with two amazing special needs children.
To this day, this was my favorite job I have ever had.
I loved working with and learning from those kids just as much as they (hopefully) enjoyed learning from me.
The kids I shadowed, both ages
4 at the time, progressed over the summer more than I could have ever imagined.
We worked on so many goals together, such as daily transitions between activities with the class, sensory overload at swim lessons, trouble at nap time, completing tasks like getting dressed without help or distractions, and so much more.
They did outstanding that summer, conquering all these challenges, and more! I am beyond thankful I got the privilege to work with such amazing kids.
