Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I helped start a school 12 years ago. I taught in early childhood program at that school and then took a split-grade class for four years. The teacher stays with the class so I taught a grade 2/3, 3/4, 4/5 and 5/6. I also traveled with a family to Boulder, Colorado and Halifax, NS while caring for their three daughters who were then two, five and eight-years-old.

The most important part about being a nanny...
When I was in Nova Scotia, I taught an eight-year-old to ride her bike. It was one of those moments that usually only parents get to experience. Her perseverance, determination and joy were exhilarating. I was also there when she learned to ski for the first time and ran her first race and started at a new school. Each one of these firsts were significant because of how difficult each task seemed at first to this particular child who also never gave up.
