Hello parents!
My name is MJ Mortensen.
I have over 12 years of childcare experience, as well as experience coaching youth sports & activities.
Since March of 2018 alone, I have had the opportunity to coach middle school volleyball, work as a full time live-in nanny to two teenagers over the course of a pandemic & it's unique challenges, and help a new mother through postpartum depression and recovery. All rewarding experiences.
To introduce myself a little better, I have always had a passion for nurturing young minds, and for supporting families in need.
I have extensive experience prepping & cooking for both children and adults, as well as performing first aid services & looking after household pets.
I also assist with light cleaning & tutoring.
What really sets me apart as a PCA however, is my experience teaching social & communication skills to youth, and my desire to support parents' goals both inside & outside the home.

The most recent of my favorite nannying experiences was being able to help my client's infant start to develop various self-soothing & fine motor skills between 4 and 6 months old, as well as to recognize the meaning of various sounds and words. Children that age learn at an astonishing rate, and it is a wonder to see.

My favorite nannying experience of all-time however, was having the opportunity to give hands-on attention to a struggling middle-school age child with ADHD support needs. I was able to help him raise his grades (and his confidence) from failing to thriving in the span of 3 short weeks, in order for him to pass his classes and advance into eighth grade with his peers. This was a great relief to both teacher and parent concerns.
That same child, with this added support, went on to receive the Presidential Excellence Award for Academic Improvement the next year.
