Coloring! I love to color with my patients and clients. I'm also a conversationalist which builds the child's social skills.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The supervision! Our youth is so important and with times changing we have to protect them as if they were our own children. I specifically worked in a residential for adolescent boys with sexual and criminal offenses. Many of these boys were raised in foster homes or by the juvenile detention centers. Because I have experience with said population, I have seen how poorly somebody's life can go when they lack monitoring and protection. They were failed by the adults in their lives and it is so crucial that the newer generations don't experience the same mistakes.
My experience with special needs children...
Working in ABA! I have experience running potty training programs, parallel play, manding etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have experience care giving 1:5 & 1:1 and I would say definitely the conversations I hear either between peers or even between myself and my client always make me laugh.
