I’m currently a nursing assistant at UIHC that works specifically with the child and adolescent population. I have aided children from ages 5-17 in activities of daily living such as hygiene, meals, and elimination needs. I’m very comfortable dealing with kids who require more therapeutic care due to my background in DBT training.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children who have varying degrees of special needs. Most notably I work in psychiatry with children who have psychiatric needs, behavioral issues, and emotional dysregulation. Among this population I have worked with many children on the spectrum. I have experience with both high and low functioning children, including those who have difficulty verbalizing their needs.
