A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Mary and I have been in childcare for about 19 years! I have experience with newborns to teenagers. I began babysitting at 9 and that quickly grew into nannying and I also work at the Jewish Community Center children’s daycare with primarily infants! I have a passion with working with babies and helping them blossom into vibrant, independent tiny humans! I have college credits towards psychology and nursing as well as trainings in child development, allergies, cpr/first aid, and more! In my spare time I enjoy being out in the sun, reading, hiking, traveling and being with friends! In 2020 I expanded my childcare experience and moved to Germany as an ai pair! It was by far one of the best years of my life. I still speak to my host family regularly and visit every year/every other year. I am currently looking into getting my newborn care specialist certification as well as becoming a post partum doula!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been an infant teacher at the JCC Wolk Children’s center for 2 years now. I have nannied for 2 families long term. I was an au pair abroad for a year. I also have babysat and still babysit for multiple families. I have been in childcare for almost 19 years!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going on walks and doing little adventures at parks as well as visiting playgrounds regularly. I also like taking children to libraries, museums, and other indoor play areas! I also love doing sensory activities as well as craft time with kids!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Some of my core beliefs as a nanny include: creative expression, creating a consistent routine, and meeting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children. I believe it is important to create a safe environment for children to feel their big feelings and help them navigate how to regulate emotions. I am a very nurturing nanny and will meet kids where they’re at and help them blossom.

I have some experience with autism, fetal alcohol syndrome, downs syndrome, and children on feeding tubes.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments actually happened recently. I was an au pair in Germany during 2020 and I have an amazing relationship with my entire host family. I hadn’t seen them in about 2 years and I planned a surprise visit in January of 2025. I talked to my host mom and asked if I could come stay with them for a little bit but wanted to surprise the youngest girl. (The oldest girl is currently studying abroad in England). When I got to Germany, I hid in the backseat when my host mom and I went to go pick the youngest up from school. She opened the back seat and was so surprised to see me. She jumped in and gave me the tightest hug and cried. We had the best visit and I will cherish that memory forever. I truly am blessed to build such strong connections to not only the children I care for, but the family as well!
