Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at Misericordia South where I was assigned to a room with four boys, all of whom were special needs. I also grew up with a boy who had special needs and we were raised like he was my brother. I raised 2 boys myself who are beautiful young adults now with their own families. I also love to step in for my Uncle's step-granddaughter when needed, who unfortunately doesn't have her own mother in her life but I am truly overjoyed when she calls me Mama Maura!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing physical activities with kids! Such as going for walks to the park, bike riding, taking them to museums, zoos, and to the beach. Anything outdoors really. I love playing sports with them! I miss going to my son's little leagues games, basketball games, soccer games, and hockey games. I also enjoy doing anything art related with children as well as reading books to them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important thing for me about being a nanny is not only being there for the child, but allowing the parents to be reassured that they don't ever have to worry about their little angel while they are away! Because I believe in following the rules the parents have set and reinforcing their way of parenting practices!
My experience with special needs children...
I grew up with a boy that had special needs, who I was raised with as my brother! I also worked at Misericordia South right out of high-school which led me down the path of entering the medical field.

Well it was kind of bitter sweet, but it had to be when my little Lucy, (my Uncle's Step-Grandaughter) called me Mama Maura for the first time and asked me if I could be her Mommy since her real mommy didn't see her!
