Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a lifeguard at a country club in Ridgefield, Connecticut for 7 years. I taught individual and group swim lessons for 5 of those years, and was named head lifeguard. I started babysitting when I was 12, and have been nannying for my 5th grade teachers children for the last 7 years. I worked at Kindercare for a year in 2023, and I have experience in elementary classrooms from internships, subbing positions, and field study for my undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am up for anything! I love to spend time outside, go for walks, go out for a fun activity (movie, ice cream, walks, parks, etc.) or stay in. I would be willing to do any sort of craft or activity your child is interested in!
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, the most important part of childcare is making a positive impact on the lives of each child I care for. I want to have tons of fun while also teaching them valuable skills and lessons along the way. Raising kids takes a village, and I take my part very seriously. I grew up in a town that is very community-based, so I believe it is my job to take care of children as if they were my own-- just like people from my hometown did for me.
My experience with special needs children...
My friend of 9 years has down syndrome, so I have a lot of experience spending time with people with special needs. Apart from this, I am currently interning at a school in CT that is home to a program that many special needs students attend from across the city.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Some of my favorite memories with the kids I've nannied are our ice cream/park days, our swim days, and our movie nights. I love a good jam-packed summer day!
