More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently serve with the children at my church. In the past I have worked as a preschool teachers assistant. I am surrounded by my friend's kids throughout the week and love them like my own. I have babysat for people who were referred to me by word of mouth. And I have worked at other childcare facilities. It was not uncommon even at 15 years old when I was a young teenager to watch people's kids through my church. I have a lot of experience with kids.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Right now, at this point in my life, I want to work with infants up to a year old. However, I would be willing to be flexible. I enjoy doing tummy time, playing music on my phone for them, taking them outside for fresh air, and letting them feel real objects in nature for sensory play (age appropriate like 10 months old). I also enjoy taking them on walks. I have been a nanny for 10-12 year old's and we went swimming, played basketball, rode bikes, etc. I love being active with kids. I truly believe that nature and less toys can be more helpful for kids than being overwhelmed with multiple activities. I personally believe that less is more.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe loving another person's child like my own. Being trusted to care for someone else's "heart outside their body" is truly a gift to me.

My experience with special needs children...

I honestly do not have much. We had a special needs girl that we worked with at church but even that interaction was limited.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments: I had a kid I would hang out with who was 10 years old. He loved quality time. We would play basketball and I would pretend I was an interviewer for him on the sidelines. Later, he would tell me things like, "I had a lot of fun with you today Megan. I enjoy hanging out with you."

And a moment with infants/ babies: Going on walks with them and making them smile. I watched my friend's kid and she rolled over with me and that was her first time ever! I felt so proud and like I was her mom.
