Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked as a summer camp leader at the YMCA and as a Girl Scout. Both of these positions encouraged singing - I love to sing with children. Music and movement time is such a grand time to explore. I am also currently a toddler teacher. This position has provided me with so many valuable experiences. I loved learning about different teaching philosophies and learning how to apply those teachings to be the most effective and efficient. Respectfully, I feel confident in my work prior to the courses I took but I love that I now have more tools and know how to apply them.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Art! I am a huge art and creative person and I love letting children just explore by painting all over their bodies and their surroundings, when appropriate of course. Art can incorporate so many other learning opportunities while also being incredibly stimulating to their other senses.
Science activities! I was recently babysitting a girl and we were walking around her backyard after it stopped raining. She found a puddle and began to splash her hand in it. I grabbed a small pinecone and dropped it into the puddle. She soon started dropping the pinecones by herself and trying different heights, or trying to make them sink like the pebbles did. It was wonderful to see her experiment so much with a "simple" pinecone.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I want the children under my care and supervision to feel loved, cared for, respected, and safe. I need to build strong relationships with the parents as well as the children. I want the parents to know that I am honored and thrilled to be entrusted with caring for their children. I love this career because children are so genuine and happy. Even on difficult days, I will always break into a huge smile when I'm at work.

I have an older sister who is severely Autistic. Growing up with her shaped me to be very caring and patient.
I was appointed a personal aide to a boy with severe Autism at a YMCA summer camp. The boy had very limited verbal communication and was easily overstimulated. I worked with him for the full 2 weeks he attended camp.
