My name is Melanie. I am a mother and grandmother. I have 20+ years of experience, which includes childcare, teaching, as well as director of a community youth program, and a modeling and charm school. I've spent the last 21/2 years caring for a now 8 yr old girl. Her mother worked in Philadelphia. I lived in Delaware in her home and cared for her from Sun thru Fri. Which included making all decisions for the care of the child. Her mother has decided to retire and no longer needs my services . I am trustworthy, responsible and organized, and will provide the structure as well.as fun, activities, and assist wherever needed in the home. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Currently ending a Nanny position. I’ve held for the last 6 years. In which I relocated to start, a live in full time position. I am a board member and instructor at the Peacock Dance Company here in Smyrna. I have 30+ years of experience, which includes, directing a community youth program, in Philadelphia, working at an after school program. Driver for Computer Kids Day Care in Philadelphia. Volunteering and teaching vacation bible school at Jones Memorial Baptist Church. Directing and Running a modeling and charm school. I have worked with children of all ages. I also was a substitute teacher at the Ken Crest center, for special needs children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Well this would depend on the age of the child. I am middle aged but in great shape and very young at heart. Most of my days are spent with children, so I’m able to adapt to any age. I enjoy talking, singing, arts and crafts, reading, creative play, educational tv and exploring new ideas. Outdoor walking, playing ball, bike riding, bird watching, learning about nature.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Realizing that to care for a child is the most important job in the world. And that a parent has intrusted you with the most precious thing in their lives.. So as as Nanny you should care for their child as if you were caring for your own child.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked at a residential facility, that housed mildly to severely mentally challenged children of all ages. So some required mild care and some were completely non functioning in there own. I’ve assisted in learning to accomplish small feats such as feeding oneself, and more difficult tasks as learning to participate in a group activity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I am around the clock 24/5 a week Nanny. Saturdays I may go out or visit family overnight. My nanny child goes everywhere with me. One Saturday morning, I was on my way out when I got to the front door, she was there completely dressed purse in hand and asked, just where are you going without me.
