A little bit about me

Hi my name is Mia Nelson! I am a college student at BYU currently. I have nannied, babysat, and taught dance as my job all throughout middle and high school. I am originally from Ventura, California and I am the oldest of 5 kids. I grew up doing chores and taking care of my siblings a lot because of this. I've been dancing since I was 2 years old and started dancing competitively since when I was 9 up until I graduated. I am currently a Dance Major and minoring in Psychology with hopes of becoming a dance therapist. I love kids and miss being able to nanny like I did at home! I also love cleaning, I honestly find it therapeutic so I don't mind picking up messes or doing household chores. I can meal prep and make food for the kids as well! I also would be willing to drive kids to things when needed. That's a little bit about myself!

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a dance teacher for 3 years working with ages 3-13! I also nannied and babysat throughout middle and high school.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Dance parties, games outside, hide and go seek with older children, board games or children games, reading books, playing pretend, and tag or soccer with older children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure that the kids want you there because you are standing in for their parents which are huge shoes to fill. So you want the kids to want you there and be friends with you as well as respect you.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with special needs kids in a Unified Sports club at my high school all four years and one of my close family friends had Angelman's syndrome so I know how to handle him.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was playing tag with the kids I babysat and tripped on a scooter (no serious injuries at all) but the kids started dying laughing with me and we just had so much fun thinking about it. When the parents came home they looked on the cameras for the video and it was just as hilarious.
