Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I am currently a dance coach for little girls ages 8-13. I also help take care of my 6 year old little brother. I also worked in a juvenile detention center with youth as a counselor. I help babysit and care for my God-daughter as well who has health issues.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
coloring, playing outside, doing fun activities, help play with their toys, and playing sports with them as well
The most important part about being a nanny...
is having patience because kids are a handful. They are needy and often get into things they shouldn't. They also have those bad days where they will not listen, scream and cry and you have to have patience in order to deal with them. You have to be able to show them different methods to handling their tempers or whatever may be going on if they are at that age. If they are babies, you have to know that they cannot communicate their feelings or whatever is going on, so you need to be able to handle a screaming baby.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a special needs little cousin whom I also have babysat and cared for sometimes. She is 14 years old but she had the mindset of a child whose about 10 years younger than she is.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When they are finally comfortable with you and randomly come and give you a hug or come sit in your lap and just lay their heads on you .
