A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Michelle Wood and I am a junior at Florida Gulf Coast University. I am studying elementary education and love learning new things that will help me be a great teacher and role model for kids. I am a creative and safe person and I am available during the majority of the week to help with whatever is needed! I have a certification with the American Red Cross in lifeguarding, first aid and cpr along with a water safety/ swim instructor certification. I worked at local pools in Ocala, FL for four years and worked at the Boys and Girls Club of Dunnellon, FL for a summer camp. With the knowledge and education I have acquired along with the certifications I have earned, I believe I would be a good fit in this position. I am available to help with homework and provide a safe environment for a child to thrive in.

As an American Red Cross Lifeguard, I began work for the City of Ocala Jervey Gantt Aquatic Center and Hampton Aquatic Center. I enforced rules placed by the City of Ocala, ensured the safety of the patrons and performed safety and medical procedures when needed. As an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, I began my certification at the City of Ocala Jervey Gantt Aquatic Center and Hampton Aquatic Center. I educated children ages 3 to 13 and their parents on pool safety, unsafe risks and taught children how to swim. As a Summer Camp Youth Development Specialist, I worked with children in a classroom setting. I formed and executed lesson plans efficiently and built positive relationships with the children. At the Boys and Girls Club in Dunnellon, FL. I educated children on the importance of eating healthy, street safety and daily exercise. I also educated students on school material and reading skills.
