A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Mikayla! I have over five years of experience working with children of all ages. I babysat throughout majority of my high school career and nannied for wonderful families afterwards. I decided to take a break from nannying and focus on my studies and found myself continuing my studies in Montessori education as well. Having first-hand experience in the infant and toddler rooms for the past year and a half, I’m confident in my approach. When I’m not in school or working, I create and design sustainable clothing, paint, and garden. I look forward to hearing from you!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout high school I participated in the early childhood development program where I’d work with children at our school’s day care and had classes specifically for children’s development. Growing up as a Montessori child I was always aware of the impact it left on me and decided to give back what my Guides gave to me. I found myself with the great opportunity to work at Montessori schools around the city and surrounding suburbs. The company I worked for allowed me to obtain my certification in Montessori education, working with children from infancy to 3 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Letting children explore their creative outlets is not only stimulating but so much fun so music and arts and crafts time is essential! I value time outdoors so walks around the neighborhood, going to the park, gardens, and the Zoo are a must. I’m an avid reader so library trips and reading time is not only a treat for them but for me too.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Children are the future and the brightest human beings. Genuinely inquisitive and curious, they’re truly the best to be around. If I can help them navigate their own personality, mind, and emotions at a young age then I can only hope it lets them continue to be the brightest individuals they can be as they grow up. Honestly, growing up is scary but it’s less when you have kindness, love, and some tools in your belt to help you navigate the world. I’m here to help with that.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve worked with children that have speech impediments and learning disabilities but have not worked with any others that need further assistance and care but would be more than willing to work with families to help with their child’s needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Spending time with children allows for all beauty to shine through. The first child I cared for was especially funny. Her vocabulary and mannerisms still stick with me today! “Tomadur” instead of tomorrow, “Mif” instead of with. It never failed to bring a smile on my face and conversations with her much more fun.
